The British Embassy in Sofia is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an Intern for the Corporate Services department.

The Corporate Services is a core department at the British Embassy that provides support to both UK-based and Local Staff to enable them to carry out their work as effectively as possible; Assists UK-based staff and their accompanying partners/family to live comfortably at post; Manages the post’s human, financial and material resources in the most efficient manner in accordance with FCO Guidance and policies; Uphold the One HMG Overseas agenda by providing a standard, fit for purpose level of corporate services, ensuring all departments working at post have the flexibility to deliver their core objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to Corporate Services Section in relation to expected workload increase post Brexit;
  • Provide assistance with Post Compliance report;
  • Provide support to delivering large events- e.g. Remembrance Day;
  • Support the Corporate services team (and occasionally other teams) with ad hoc tasks.





Fluent English and Bulgarian (both oral and written);


Gather information from a range of relevant sources inside and outside;

Proactively contribute to the work of the whole team and be open to taking on different tasks;

Work with Microsoft Office- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Handle numbers confidently, collate information ensuring accuracy of data.



Driver's licence;

Experience in simultaneous interpretation and document translation;

Experience in event management.

This is a full-time position (36 hours per week) for a temporary appointment of 6 months.

Monthly salary for this position is BGN gross BGN610+ BGN50 (of transport allowance).

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance. Anyone with right of residence and employment in Bulgaria may apply, including all EU/EEA citizens and the family members of EU/EEA nationals exercising a treaty right in Bulgaria.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to terms and conditions service according to Bulgarian employment law.

Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Bulgaria and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Additional requirements may become necessary pending EU Exit. If requirements change additional eligibility information will be shared during the recruitment process.
