The British Embassy in Jakarta is part of a world-wide network of 270 Diplomatic Posts, representing British political, economic, commercial and consular interests overseas. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Digital Media Officer.

The jobholder will lead all aspects of the Embassy’s the digital and social media activity. He/ She will create innovative and engaging social media content to support the Embassy’s communications campaigns, spot trends in social media, and keep our social media strategy in tune with audiences. The jobholder will also evaluate the impact of our communications activity. He/ she will also provide support to the Embassy's Senior Press Officer.

 

Main Duties

Content Creation

  • Plan and produce high quality, engaging, and creative content for the Embassy’s digital and social media channels.
  • Devise and run interactive social media events such as competitions, Q&A sessions, and live broadcasts.
  • Write attention grabbing stories for social media that support the Embassy's communications campaigns.
  • Create high impact visual content, such as photographs, videos, and infographics which convey campaign messages.
  • Advise wider embassy on how to create first class digital content

Media Support

  • Support the Embassy's Press Officer in managing relations with media contacts.
  • Support planning and running media events and press conferences as required.
  • Occasionally translating articles and social media posts from English to Bahasa and vice versa.

— Digital Strategy

  • Work with campaign managers to plan digital elements of the Embassy’s commununications campaigns.
  • Develop our social media audiences to make sure that our campaign messages reach the right people.
  • Monitor social media trends and innovations to make sure the Embassy's digital strategy remains relevant and up to date.

— Evaluation

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of our social and traditional media activity.
  • Make recommendations based on evaluations to improve future activity.

— Support to wider team

  • Provide assistance to the wider team in running events and communications campaigns as required.
  • Assist in managing team budgets and general administration.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in a social media or digital marketing role
  • Ability to plan and execute social media campaigns
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms especially Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and analytics
  • Creative attitude
  • Understanding and ability to create strong visual imagery
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa
  • Media handling experience
  • Photo and video editing, ability to use photo and video editing software
  • Experience using DSLR cameras
