The British Embassy in Copenhagen, part of a world-wide network representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas, is looking for a Head of the Department for International Trade (DIT).

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is fundamental to supporting the Government’s agenda to grow the UK economy. The role of the Director is to provide strategic direction for trade development, inward investment and market access via its commercially vital campaigns and prosperity activities. To provide guidance, support and management to the team with a shared goal of fulfilling DIT’s strategic objectives.

The Head of DIT Denmark will report to the Director for DIT’s Nordic-Baltic Network, part of the newly established DIT Europe Region.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage the DIT section, to ensure the section meets objectives, stays within budget and provides a high quality service to our customers
  • To develop the annual business plan for DIT Denmark
  • To be one of the key interfaces between the Embassy and the UK business community in Denmark
  • To lead and manage the Embassy's relationship with major Danish investors
  • To manage DIT relationship with stakeholders in London and the wider Nordic-Baltic region
  • To provide economic and business-level input into the Embassy's wider political work
  • To identify and analyse commercial opportunities for UK business in Denmark



  • Trade and Investment experience;
  • Fluent in English (both oral and written);
  • Strong Danish market Insigh as well as active business network;
  • Strategic commercial and economic awareness;
  • Excellent team leadership skills and a record of delivering results, with the ability to bring teams together to work toward common goals;
  • Excellent prioritization skills;
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with customers and stakeholders from a variety of commercial sectors;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • An innovative attitude especially towards customer service and performance management;
  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Strong IT computer user skills.
  • Trade policy insigh and experience;
  • Fluent in Danish (both oral and written).
