Working in a small, friendly embassy, the dynamic jobholder will provide general support to the Political & PPA section of the Embassy.

He/ She will play a key role in helping to upgrade the Embassy’s Facebook and Twitter channels, including launching and delivery of Mongolian content. Injecting understanding of the Mongolian media landscape into the Embassy’s PD plans, he/ she will assist in the development of digital and conventional media campaigns and secure high-profile media interviews for Her Majesty's Ambassador (HMA) and others to further UK-Mongolia objectives.

An understanding of campaign planning will enable the jobholder to assist in the coordination of the Embassy’s GREAT Campaign – the UK’s national campaign brand – and play a key role in delivering the campaign through the busy summer and autumn period.


This position is advertised on a fixed-term basis for six (6) months.



Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist, and in some cases lead, on the development of core communication tools (e.g., core scripts/ media landscape mapping/ ’how-to’ communication campaign planning tools/ outreach plans).
  • Develop and maintain Facebook/ social media channels, including Mongolian content.
  • Facilitate effective media interviews.
  • Support development and delivery of GREAT campaign strategy. Lead on internal embassy coordination of GREAT campaign between sections. Lead on delivery of some parts of GREAT Campaign.
  • Support political leads with social media input by monitoring key social media sites.
  • Support political leads during absences by providing political insights and media monitoring.
  • In line with embassy policy, play an active role in the corporate side of the Embassy and be part of cross-cutting thinking and delivery e.g., with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Political, and Prosperity teams.
  • Provide translation and interpretation as necessary.
  • Strong grasp of social media tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of campaign planning and event delivery. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Mongolian.
  • Good command of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter who is able to work with little supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work with people of different levels and backgrounds.
  • Strong media network in Mongolia, or clear ability to develop this quickly.
  • Understanding of Facebook and Twitter analytics.
  • Video editing and uploading skills.
