An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Development Executive to join the Scottish Development International Team at the British Embassy Copenhagen (Maternity cover - 12 month fixed term). The British Embassy Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas.

Scottish Development International (SDI) is a joint venture between the Scottish Government and Scotland’s economic development agencies. SDI leads on Scotland’s international trade engagement with a focus on increasing Scottish exports, inward investment and international commercial connectivity.

As an Assistant Development Executive (ADE) you will work closely with the regional SDI team as well as British government agencies and international stakeholders. Your work will support colleagues working in trade development as well as directly assisting Scottish companies in their internationalisation strategies.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide quality desk-based research of key regional markets, sectors and companies as well as provide up to date information on market insights and trends;
  • Identify export opportunities for Scottish companies using existing networks, research / analysis and business development methods;
  • Respond to enquiries from Scottish companies wishing to access the Nordic Baltic Caspian region;
  • Represent SDI at commercial events and provide event management for smaller business seminars, workshops and other corporate activities;
  • Contribute to building stakeholder relations, including liaison with chambers, embassies, industry associations and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Provide administrative support to the Regional Director in global management activities.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in related areas, preferably in international trade organizations;
  • Project management experience;

  • Ability to manage a diverse workload, including research reporting, event management and developing stakeholder relationships and client facing skills;

  • Dependable communication skills including fluency in English and at least one Nordic language;

  • A team player with the ability to take initiative when needed;

  • Multitasking skills;
  • IT literate, comfortable using MS Office platform, CRM systems and LinkedIn.

  • An understanding of government and the role it plays in international trade;

  • Knowledge and experience of working in the Nordic Baltic region;

  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare, tech, or energy sectors.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for one year.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorization for Denmark in order to apply.
