We are recruiting for an intern to support the British Embassy’s new COP25 Climate Change and Clean Growth Unit with a range of duties aimed at handling logistics and assisting with tasks at the UK Pavilion at the United Nations Climate Conference COP25 that will be held in Santiago, Chile from 2-13 December 2019. The intern will assist the wider Embassy team with the preparation and delivery of British Embassy COP25 related activities and visits focused on key UK-Chile climate priority areas; electromobility, oceans, Antarctica, clean energy, and green finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative support to the COP25 Unit by organising paper and electronic files, maintaining and updating the stakeholder database, taking minutes, assisting with diary management, greeting visitors, and handling incoming calls and messages.
  • Assist the British Embassy team with preparations for UK Pavilion and British Embassy supported side events at the COP25 venue by arranging transport, side event agendas and helping with the general programme coordination.
  • Assist the British Embassy team with the delivery of UK Pavilion and British Embassy activities at the COP25 venue, including logistical tasks required for side events, such as handling catering, setting up/dismantling for meetings/events, and organising presentations.

The intern must be enrolled in a university/college programme that will allow them to participate in an internship “practica professional”.

Fluent Spanish. Ideally business level in both written and spoken English.

The ideal candidate would already have some experience and/or knowledge related to events management.

The intern will work full-time during the internship. The Embassy working hours are 09:00-1730 Mon-Thurs and 0900-1300 on Friday. The intern will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked, as sometimes these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours (evening and/or weekends) during events and visits.

The intern will have the opportunity to take part in policy related Lunch and Learn sessions that take place at the Embassy on a regular basis. In addition, the intern will have a clear plan for their internship, which will include development points.
