Main purpose of job

Working alongside Head of Infrastructure and Financial Services for Latin America (based in Sao Paulo) you will be responsible for helping to develop and deliver a regional trade campaign in the Financial Services sector.

You will support the development of the pipeline of commercial opportunities in Brazil and the region for UK companies and help develop a strong brand for UK Financial Services ideally focussing on pension funds, insurance and professional services companies in particular, but this can be adjusted based on skills/interest and knowledge across the priority sectors and the development of the regulatory environments.

Roles and responsibilities

This is an opportunity to lead a high profile regional campaign for Financial Services in Brazil. Sao Paulo leads a regional campaign for Financial Services across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. The team currently focuses on Asset Management, FinTech, Insurance and Re-insurance, Mergers and Acquisitions, and professional services sectors.

For the regional campaign, you will work alongside the regional team to develop and deliver a joint campaign. As well as measuring progress against this campaign you will support the team in sharing best practice and resources and importantly building a strong brand for UK Financial Services in Latin America. For this, you will need to build an understanding of the UK’s strengths in Financial Services; connecting the best UK companies to deliver against the commercial demands in Brazil.

For the sectors you lead on, you will be responsible for managing an existing pipeline of well-identified commercial opportunities and researching and validating new opportunities as and when they arise. Your success in this position will primarily be measured on the value of exports you assist British companies to achieve and also the actions towards market barriers.

You will be required to account manage and build a strong network of companies/contacts that will allow you to identify new commercial opportunities as soon as they arise. You will need strong communication skills and a high level of emotional intelligence that will allow you to pitch your approaches appropriately. This position will see you exposed to ministers and CEO’s of big companies and therefore a high level of resilience and professionalism are essential.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery a number of high profile events in Brazil and the UK that will be designed to showcase the best of British Financial Services to our customers.

In order to be successful you will work closely alongside policy colleagues to identify regulatory and policy challenges to the business environment faced by UK companies in Brazil.

You will work closely with the wider Financial Services team and be directly supported by the Head of Infrastructure and Financial Services for Latin America (based in Sao Paulo), and a team assistant, but will also work closely alongside other teams within the Consulate and Region.

The position will suit an energetic, motivated self-starter with an interest in the sector. It will require a positive and proactive attitude that thinks in terms of opportunities, not problems, and will be able to motivate and inspire their team to deliver challenging targets. It also requires deep reading.
