In line with the sector strategy, lead the delivery of projects and campaigns in South West China to achieve trade and investment targets in health and social care. Overall role entails initiative in research, good communication skills and responsibility in managing multiple projects.

 

Responsibility of the post-holder:

  1. To carry out research on life sciences and healthcare sector in Southwest China.
  2. To contribute towards building the life sciences and healthcare sector strategy.
  3. To support the delivery of ongoing life sciences and healthcare projects in the team.
  4. To identify new potential business contacts in Southwest China.
  5. To generate and maintain a database of key contacts.
  6. To make and maintain contact with other UKTI sector teams.

Through this role, the employee will have the chance to gain a broad understanding of Consular work, in particular Trade and Investment projects. The employee will build relationships with consular staff and key business partners. He/she will be involved in discussions about China-UK business relations, about the UKTI sector strategy and about the 2016/17 healthcare and life science targets and budget. He/she will be able to take ownership of their work, managing and delivering key projects. This post may also include the opportunity to travel to other regional offices.

  • Chinese Nationals and British Nationals and spouses / partners of all nationalities of diplomats who are "W" (diplomatic) visa holders and meet passport criteria
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin, both in spoken and written
  • IT Skills, knowledge of MS office applications.
  • Bachelors degree or above is preferred
  • 2+ years working experience preferred. 
  • Experience of carrying out desk-based research is advantageous.
  • Experience or willingness to communicate with new contacts is desirable.
