The UKTI Team in Düsseldorf is now looking for a Senior Campaign Manager for Renewable Technologies. The UK Government is revamping its export strategy in order to meet its high level goals of doubling the number of UK exporters by 2020 and has an investment target to increase the UK’s stock of FDI to £1.5 trillion by 2020. The Renewable Technology sector is a high priority for the UK’s export and FDI strategies in Germany. This is an exciting time to be joining the team. Renewables’ share of electricity generation in the UK was 25.1 per cent in 2016 Q1, up 2.3 percentage points on the share in 2015 Q1. By 2020 the vast majority of the UK’s renewable energy will come from electrical networks, offshore wind, biomass electricity, marine, solar PV, biomass heat, air-source and ground-source heat pumps, renewable transport and a group of miscellaneous technologies that include hydro, geothermal and solar heat. So there are great opportunities to exploit.

Main purpose of the job:

To lead the campaign to increase UK exports to Germany in the Renewable Technologies sector and to support the UK’s strategy to boost German investment in the renewable energy sector in the UK and infrastructure projects. The Senior Campaign Manager will play a pivotal role in the renewable energy team to boost UK Renewable Technology exports to Germany and to promote the UK as a place to do business .

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To develop a campaign strategy and lead client engagement to increase the value of UK exports to the German market in renewable technologies and to encourage German investment into renewable and infrastructure projects;
  • To build strong customer relationships with key account companies in the German and British Renewable Technology sector and institutional investor community in Germany. This includes working credibly at the most senior levels of decision making;
  • To provide high quality advice to UK companies on how to penetrate the German market, including identifying market opportunities and to promote investment opportunities to German renewable technology developers and institutional investors;
  • To support the Senior Business Development Manager for Renewable Energy and Infrastructure in building strong personal relations with key German companies to facilitate door opening for UK companies and to promote UK investment opportunities;
  • To oversee campaign activities such as organisation of events at key trade fairs/missions, working closely with colleagues in London HQ, UKTI campaign team members Germany and in other markets and multipliers;
  • To manage one team member and a campaign budget.
  • Good knowledge of the German and UK Business Environments, specifically knowledge of policy driving the renewable technology sector with an understanding of project finance, including infrastructure investment;
  • Fluent in German and English, both Oral and Written;
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills;
  • Ability to research and analyse complex information;
  • Self Starter – ability to work well on own initiative;
  • Good IT skills, especially MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • The successful candidate will be someone who thinks strategically and sees the big picture but is also very strong on organisation, delivery and stakeholder management. There is much scope for creative thinking, new ideas and high levels of personal autonomy.
  • Experience of working in the German and/or UK renewable technology sector;
  • Knowledge of German institutional investor structure and players;
  • Project Management experience;
  • Experience of Customer Relationship Management software;
  • Staff management experience.
