The British Embassy in Moscow is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for an Events Manager to devise, create and organise outward-facing events which contribute to the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy (PD) objectives and assist with PD campaigning on a range of topics, both strategic and ad-hoc, while contributing to the corporate agenda.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Devise, create and organise outward-facing events which contribute to the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy (PD) objectives;
  • Assist with PD campaigning on a range of topics, both strategic and ad-hoc;
  • Respond to ad-hoc PD campaign requests;
  • Maintain value for money and consistency in the Embassy events policy;
  • Maintain contacts & suppliers databases;
  • Work closely with other parts of the Embassy to identify PD opportunities, and seek publicity for them;
  • Work closely with the Embassy's interpreter on translation, adaptation and proof-reading of written materials from English into Russian and vice-versa;
  • Other duties deemed operationally necessary by Line Manager or Deputy/Head of Section.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Russian, including excellent writing skills (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*);
  • The creativity and flair necessary to generate a steady stream of imaginative events concepts;
  • The organisational skills to push these concepts through to completion, often within limited timescales and budgets;
  • Project management skills – ability to create and formulate public diplomacy project ideas, plan project activities, fulfil the plan and evaluate the results;
  • Interpersonal skills to work productively with colleagues within the Embassy and external stakeholders;
  • Flexibility to handle a number of tasks at once and in different locations;
  • Strong attention to details and ability to see bigger picture;
  • Self-starter mindset, able to take on additional responsibilities;
  • Availability to travel and to potentially work out of hours.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package (intermediate);
  • Photography and video editing skills (basic/intermediate);
  • Social media managing experience.

This is a full-time, permanent contract for 5 working days, 35 hours net per week.

All applicants  should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in Russia. The British Embassy does not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permits.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Russia is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Russian employment law.

The monthly salary for this position is 82,347 RUB gross, A2(L) level, paid 13 times a year.
