The British/French Joint Intelligence Cell is based in Calais, France and works hand in hand with French Law Enforcement to research, identify and disrupt the Organised Crime Groups driving and profiting from the high risk clandestine maritime crossings of migrants from France to the UK.  The expansion of the team (currently 12 investigators & intelligence Officers ) means that there is now requirement for additional two support team members who will be responsible for carrying out a range of administrative duties and other tasks to deliver organisational objectives. The role is based in Calais with a requirement for occasional travel across Northern France. The role also requires the provision of both written and oral language support at operational and Strategic planning meetings.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • General office administration and support to both the Liaison Officers and Managers, including but not limited to, fleet and facilities management;
  • Monitoring incoming enquiries and maintaining logs and databases;
  • Conduct ad-hoc open-source research and analysis, present findings in a logical and concise manner;
  • Provision of written and spoken translation services for the Liaison Officers (ILO) and Managers (ILM);
  • Clearly communicate with French Law Enforcement and other partners on behalf of the UK Law Enforcement Agencies at the behest of the ILO/ILM;
  • Attend a range of events, meetings and conferences in support of the ILO and ILM to strengthen the UK-France bilateral relationship;
  • Liaise with partners across the Embassy in pursuit of HMGs “one platform” approach through joint working;
  • Organise logistics and compile programmes for incoming/outgoing visits and events.
  • French and English language skills (C2 Written and Spoken);
  • Strong organisational and time management skills – ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, word, Excel and SharePoint applications;
  • High level of discretion and integrity.
  • Knowledge of UK/French Law Enforcement;
  • Previous experience of working in an international environment.
