View Vacancy - Transport Manager AO (27/22 ACC)
Main purpose of job:
BHC Accra is a large post, charged with delivering high impact and complex policy, programmes and campaigns on the full breadth of the Africa Strategy. The Jobholder is responsible for managing the Transport Team.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Manage transport requests and daily transport schedules
- Manage the Transport Budget for the Financial year with accurate forecasting
- Ensure that all vehicles are well maintained, serviced and kept in good working order
- Arrange Insurance covers for all vehicles
- Contract Manager for Transport Services
- Maintain transport records and all journey books
- Check and monitor overtime for drivers on a monthly basis
- Monitor daily and monthly fuel supplies for official vehicles
- Requisitioning and receipting POs for the Transport team
- Vehicle Registration – for Official vehicles, UKB Officers’ Vehicles and Change of ownership of vehicles at the DVLA
- Create and Coordinate Transport Plans for Ministerial and other High-profile visits.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
- A Team of drivers
- Fleet of Vehicles and Motorcycles
- Transport Budget
- Bachelors in Logistics Management or any related field.
- Experience of working in a logistics-related role
- Dealing with logistics, Administration and Budgets.
- Excellent Communication Skills, fluent in written and spoken English.
- Excellent IT skills (including working knowledge of MS office packages -Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- The ability to respond flexibly to competing demands, often at short notice.
- Strong Organisational skills and good attention to details
- Good Manager with strong Customer Service Skills
- Good Interpersonal relations
- Ability to plan ahead, anticipate problems/clashes and proactively manage issues
- Able to work under minimal supervision and deliver
- Experience in managing budgets
- Working and delivering in a fast-paced environment

Working patterns:
Flexible working will be required, working around the demands of the office.
