View Vacancy - Pro Consul, British Embassy Washington D.C.
Main purpose of job: The British Embassy in Washington DC has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and detail-oriented person to join our busy Consular Team as the Pro Consul. Reporting to the Vice Consul in Washington DC, but with occasional travel across the Americas consular region, the successful applicant will play a key role in front-line service delivery, stakeholder management and prevention activities, as well as making an effective contribution to the wider Consular regional network. The Americas Consular Network provides high quality, professional, empathetic services to British nationals, providing tailored support to the most vulnerable, encourages British nationals to take personal responsibility, works with stakeholders to reduce risks and is ready to scale and flex our response in a crisis. The main purpose of the role is to provide consular assistance to British nationals in accordance with current guidelines, within the geographical area of District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware. This may include speaking with/visiting British nationals in jail/hospital, providing advice and assistance to homeless persons, those suffering from mental health issues, providing support to family members following bereavement, child abductions or custody matters, providing advice and assistance to victims of crime including rape or sexual assault victims. Working patterns:
Requires to be in the office on a standard working pattern of 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday through Friday. This role is 40 hours per week.
