The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for a Learning & Development Adviser (Learning Partner) to work within the Diplomatic Academy Regional Team (DART) for Africa and Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The Diplomatic Academy Regional Teams (DARTs) provide innovative and creative learning solutions to meet the needs of the UK Government overseas. We partner with British Missions (Posts) to ensure learning is based on performance outcomes and aligned to UK Government priorities. We work to ensure that learning activities are designed to best-practice L&D standards, based on solid research and contribute to building a positive learning culture within the workplace.

We work at a fast pace with a high degree of autonomy. We need to be flexible and adept at dealing with change and ambiguity. We need to be skilful at working across cultures and resourceful to ensure we always deliver, even when we meet the unexpected.

You will be aware of the most recent L&D thinking and research and familiar with multiple learning channels to create effective blended learning experiences.  You will be proactive in your approach, with excellent communication skills essential to build strong relationships across the business, at all levels.


Duties and responsibilities:

- Partner with Posts and Business Partners (BP) on learning solutions

  • Partner with Posts and BPs to design and deliver learning solutions that meet identified needs/ performance outcomes
  • Learning experiences will use best practice L&D methodologies consistent with Modern Workplace Learning. Learning solutions will offer quality programmes and make use of appropriate technology
  • Evaluate L&D solutions to ensure performance outcomes are achieved

- Facilitation

  • Facilitate Leadership & Management Development programmes when required
  • Support Management Development cohorts including Line Management learning sets
  • Act as live or virtual facilitators, community managers, and moderators for online communities and groups
  • Lead cohorts of learners through programmes of learning in support of Diplomatic Academy Faculties
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to deliver targeted learning through virtual platforms
  • Develop SME L&D expertise through face to face and virtual facilitation

- Content management - Curate and manage content across key thematic areas

  • Building Capability for All - Having a strong focus on continuous learning for oneself, others and the organisation. Being open to learning, keeping one's own knowledge and skill set current and evolving. Creating a learning and knowledge culture across the organisation to inform future plans and transformational change.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a L&D and/ or OD environment either public or private sector
  • Experience of partnering with very senior stakeholders
  • Excellent consultative and partnering skills
  • Able to communicate and facilitate both virtual and live (face to face) groups effectively
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Learning design skills to devise and implement learning solutions
  • Content management and curation ability
  • Understanding of modern workplace learning best practice
  • A passion and enthusiasm for developing people
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Formal qualification in L&D or related subject

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: 25 days of annual leave per annum, on-site parking and on-site swimming pool, gymnasium, and sports facilities.

Salary is at AED 21,994 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 15:06, including a lunch break of 36 minutes, from Sunday to Thursday. The successful candidate should also be prepared to take occasional travel within and outside the region.

Eligibility:

The successful applicant will be required to obtain the necessary security clearance. Higher clearances can be granted only to certain nationalities. For this reason, candidates must be of British, American, Australian, Canadian, or New Zealand nationality in order to gain the level of clearance required for this role.
