View Vacancy - Immigration Liaison Assistant- Immigration Enforcement International A2 (09/19 ACC)
Main purpose of job:
- Handle and develop our intelligence, creating packages related to the air threat to disrupt criminal activity and/or for subsequent criminal investigations and prosecutions.
- Provide administrative and organisational support to the Immigration Liaison Manager (ILM) and Immigration Liaison Officers (ILO) as necessary.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Manage the team email inbox including responding to, actioning and referring on emails as appropriate;
- Maintain risk databases, including substantial data entry and related background research;
- Prepare statistics and reports;
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Embassy colleagues, airlines and local Law Enforcement across the Africa region;
- Organise regional travel, training sessions and internal/external meetings in consultation with the ILO/M.
- Proficiency in English
- Previous experience of working in an office environment in a support role performing a wide range of administrative tasks;
- Previous experience in engaging with stakeholders, customers and partners at all levels;
- Experience of working in an area with a high level of personal responsibility and track record of being accountable for own actions / decisions;
- IT literacy, a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point is essential;
- Ability to work effectively within a small team;
- Ability to process and understand data and information, turning these into concise and accurate reports;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; confidence in dealing with government officials at all levels;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to prioritise workloads where required;
- Ability to respect the confidentiality of work issues and understand the personal and professional consequences of lapses in security;
- Flexibility. Occasionally the position may require the job holder to work extended hours or work flexibly, sometimes at short notice;
- Able to successfully pass security clearance procedures.
- Previous experience of working in a law enforcement or intelligence environment/working in similar position or previous relevant experience;
- Basic knowledge of UK and Ghana government/civil service structures;
- Previous experience or knowledge of the travel industry, aviation and/or security sectors.

- Immigration Enforcement International (IEI) operates in more than 40 countries to prevent illegal immigration and disrupt the organised immigration crime groups behind it. IEI Accra deliver this by working with police and carriers (airlines and their agents) across Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Guinea, Guinea Bissau and UK counterparts to reduce the threat of inadequately documented arrivals (IDAs) reaching the UK through civilian aviation (flights). We also work closely law enforcement authorities to disrupt organised immigration crime and deliver capacity building training and projects.
