Main purpose of job: The post holder will be expected to control the day to day workload of the technical trades and provide comprehensive supervision of the workforce and sub-contractors.

Roles and responsibilities / what will   the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Take charge of day to day reactive and pre-planned maintenance.
  • Take charge of all project work at post as   tasked.
  • Oversee all works that are being carried by contractors are within the specifications and timelines agreed. This will include the initial induction before the start of any works.
  • To investigate, evaluate, and take appropriate action in the event of unforeseen events, problems and other daily maintenance issues.
  • Provide comprehensive supervision of all works designated to post this will include ensuring method statements and risk assessments are prepared and in place when appropriate.
  • Planning and scheduling own and team's work to meet required time lines and output through prioritising activities against a daily programme and liaison with appropriate staff.
  • Monitor performance of TWG and report to the Technical Works Supervisors any concerns or issues and training requirements.
  • To contribute to the general development and improvement of service.
  • To assist charge hands with TWG staff supervision, this will include daily briefings and regular tool box talks with all TWG staff.
  • Willing to work overtime and be prepared to take calls out of hours.
  • Ensuring a culture of Safety  & Health and that FCO guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Complete the appraisal cycle as reporting and countersigning officer for line managed    staff as delegated by the Head of Corporate Services
  • Significant and relevant experience in the supervision of maintenance, building services and construction projects.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Good working knowledge of IT.
  • The ability to read plans and schematics.
  • 17th Edition electrical wiring regulation experience.       
  • LPG gas installation experience.
  • Generator experience including ATI panels
  • IOSH/NEBOSH fire safety qualification.
  • Full driving license.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification.
