Main purpose of job:


Working with the the Head of Strategic Accounts & the Director for DIT, you will be responsible for the relationship management of major UK companies with a presence in Mexico, to support them in increasing their UK exports and outward direct investment (ODI) from UK to Mexico.


 


You will develop and manage relationships with leading UK investors in Mexico in order to support their business growth, and connect them with the services and initiatives offered by the British Embassy, Department for International Trade (DIT) and wider UK Government in Mexico.



Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:


 


This is an exciting opportunity to work on improving bilateral trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Mexico, especially through increasing UK exports and ODI and in the context of challenges and opportunities arising from Brexit and NAFTA.


 


You will be responsible for identifying and account managing a pipeline of at least 15 companies as well researching and validating new accounts that meet the criteria. Your success in this position will be measured on the value of exports and ODI you assist British companies to achieve in the Mexican market.


 


This will require developing a network of contacts that will allow you to identify new commercial opportunities as they arise.   You will need strong communication and organisational skills as well as a high level of emotional intelligence that will allow you to pitch your approaches appropriately. You will often be in contact with ministers and senior level management in companies, so resilience and professionalism are essential.


 


You will work closely with the Latac Strategic Accounts team based in Brazil, and be supported by the Head of Strategic Accounts, as well as a team assistant. Also, working closely with other parts of the British Embassy, our Mexican regional offices and government contacts in the UK make being able to collaborate and partner an essential skill.


 

The position will suit an energetic, motivated self-starter with an ability to work with little oversight. It will require a positive and proactive attitude, passionate about unlocking opportunities for UK companies in Mexico, and improving the bilateral trading relationship.


Essential on arrival: University degree in International Relations, Business Administration, Economics and/or related areas; at least 1 year work experience in a business development and/or client relationship management role


 Desirable: work experience with UK companies or in international trade and investment issues



Language: English and Spanish


 Level of language required: Fluent, written and spoken in both languages.
