Applications are invited to fill a vacancy within the British Embassy, Bahrain as Political and Press & Public Affairs Officer Grade B3(L) position.

As the Political and Press & Public Affairs (PPA) Officer you will be responsible for supporting the Head of the Political & PPA Team, in timely and accurate reporting on current events and developments in Bahrain. You will also provide support to Head of Political & PPA Team to liaise with local print and broadcast media.

 
Main duties and responsibilities of the job holder include:

  • Support the Head of the Political & PPA Team, by providing timely and accurate reporting on current events and developments in Bahrain, with a good understanding of the bilateral relationship between the UK and Bahrain.Having a developed understanding of international and regional affairs is essential.
  • Assistance to the Head of Political Internal & PPA in organising key visits
  • Support to the Head of Political Internal & PPA to engage with key contacts and stakeholders, through comprehensive engagement plans and by building a network of key contacts. Primary point of contact for Arabic local media (print and broadcast) and lead for a daily local and international media summary
  • Assisting on other ad hoc projects and work streams
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of Bahraini politics and society
• Interest in and understanding of regional and international politics
• Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic
• Strong IT skills; proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel)/ and social media.
• At least 2 years work experience in a relevant field

A salary package of BHD 1025 per month

The successful candidate will be subject to a 3 month probationary period and will need to commence security clearance procedures through the Embassy as soon as possible. Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks.
