Main purpose of job:
The day to day security management of the Mission along with the security budget and local guard force
Roles and responsibilities:
- Manage and run the Security budget. This requires having a thorough knowledge of budget forecasting and the day to day accounting associated with the running of a very substantial budget.
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the physical security measures necessary for the safeguarding of a high profile workplace and staff accommodation.
- Be able to carry out sensitive security investigations with accuracy and integrity.
- Can understand, analyse and collate information from a variety of internal and external sources.
- Produce and deliver relevant and timely security briefings for staff, visitors and families.
- Line manage one member of staff.
- Manage the Mission’s contact databases for staff and visitors.
- Carry out the duties of the Regional Overseas Security Manager during his absences from Post

Management of the security budget
- Hold a suitable Security management or Business degree.
- Have in-depth knowledge of protective security.
- Be eligible to obtain, or currently hold, UK security clearance.
- Have extensive IT and administrative skills.
- Possess budget management skills.
- Line management experience.
- Have an excellent command of English both written and verbal.
- Have held a Kenyan or international driving licence for at least two years
Leave:
Members of staff are entitled to paid annual leave, which is earned, from the day they commence employment. Entitlements are as follows:
Grades B3 (L) 30 days
In addition to annual leave, the BHC normally observes no fewer than 9 and no more than 14 Kenyan and British public and religious holidays in a year. These vary from year to year and are at the discretion of the High Commissioner. A list of holidays is published each year.

Monday to Thursday: 0715 - 1600 Friday: 0745 - 1300
