The British Trade Office Al Khobar has a vacancy for a Trade & Investment Advisor under the Department for International Trade.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the British government’s lead department for international trade and supports foreign investment into the United Kingdom. This is an interesting and varied role located within the British Trade Office (BTO) located in Al Khobar. It comes at an interesting time as the relationship develops between both countries.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Energy team by identifying business opportunities for British businesses within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the Energy strategy which will help secure business for British companies, with a key focus will be the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Research and develop new opportunities linked to the energy sector in the areas of smart cities, technology, and infrastructure.
  • Support the delivery of DIT’s activities, for example organising trade missions, receptions, etc.
  • Identify export opportunities and market them on DIT’s export opportunity website (exportingisgreat.gov.uk).
  • Work with UK clients to deliver DIT’s chargeable services which can take the form of market intelligence, validated list of contacts, etc.
  • Data entry into the Trade Office’s contacts database, update existing contacts and adding new ones.
  • Key account management of a range of Saudi/ British clients and private sector organisations.
  • Opportunity to work cross-team and support the Director of the British Trade Office in the wider areas of Education, Training, Renewables and Infrastructure.

  • Computer literacy in all Microsoft Office packages and accurate typing skills
  • Previous commercial experience and working in a target driven environment
  • Previous experience working in or knowledge of the Energy sector, especially in KSA or the Middle East
  • Arabic language skills

Salary details:

  • Base Salary including Eid bonus - SAR 5,534.53
  • Housing Allowance - SAR 1,383.63 (subject to eligibility)*
  • Travel Allowance - SAR 400 (subject to eligibility)*

*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form.


No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Normal working hours for the Embassy are 08.00 to 15.00 Sunday to Thursday. This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week.

The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours, especially during events and visits. There may also be requirement for some travel, both internationally and within Saudi Arabia.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.

Eligibility:

The position is available to Saudi nationals and holders of Saudi residence permits or transferable Iqamas. Successful candidates will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Embassy.
