The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for a full-time Regional L&D Coordinator (Maternity Cover) to work with the International Academy team.

The International Academy provides innovative and creative learning solutions to meet the needs of the UK Government to support learners in doing their jobs more effectively, based on specific organisational needs. The International Academy has teams based across the globe. We partner with British Missions (Posts) to ensure learning is based on performance outcomes and aligned to UK Government priorities. We work to ensure that learning activities are designed to best-practice L&D standards, based on solid research and contribute to building a positive learning culture within the workplace.

Reporting to the Head of the International Academy (MENAAP), we are looking for a reliable, hard-working, resourceful Learning & Development Coordinator who has a background in L&D, attention to detail and gets things done with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will provide administrative and logistical support to the MENAAP L&D Team, manage our budget, be the key person on communications with our customers, and support our online and face-to-face learning activities.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact with our customers, and lead on outgoing communications for the team.
  • Promote, and help organise, virtual regional L&D events and activities.
  • Contribute to, and coordinate our global L&D newsletter and other official communications.
  • Collaborate with our global team to deliver on projects to meet strategic and operational priorities.
  • Support our online learning platforms, including being the super user of GLO, our learning management system and MS Teams.
  • Ensure our L&D events and activities follow our evaluation process and are correctly recorded in our Account Management system.
  • Support the team by organising our team meetings, L&D events, and providing logistical and administrative support as needed.
  • Manage the team budget and procure goods and services.
  • Organise and support learning activities and conferences in Dubai.
  • Opportunity to contribute to regional projects in areas of interest, such as visual design, writing and communications, video and audio production, system administration etc.

  • Leading and Communicating - Effectiveness in this area is about leading from the front and communicating with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm. It’s about supporting principles of fairness of opportunity for all and a dedication to a diverse range of citizens.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the operations/admin tasks within an L&D team.
  • 2-3 years of experience in organising virtual sessions.
  • Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Numerate to be able to manage a simple budget process.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Be able to work autonomously and use initiative within agreed guidelines.
  • Culturally aware to be able to collaborate across teams globally and with stakeholders from different countries.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A passion and enthusiasm for customer service.
  • Project management or project administration skills
  • Marketing/publishing design skills
  • Experience of working in a global organisation

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: 25 days of leave per annum (pro-rated); on-site swimming pool, gym, and sports facilities (subject to COVID-19 restrictions).

Salary is at AED 11,363 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 15:06, including a lunch break of 36 minutes, from Sunday to Thursday.

The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will also be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours.

The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.
