The British Embassy in Paris is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic, commercial and consular interests overseas. We are currently looking for a Sports Events Support Officer (Olympics, Paralympics and Rugby World Cup).

Main purpose of job is to:

  • Support the event management and associated logistics and operations for the delivery of the sport programme, including cross-Embassy UK promotional events linked to the Rugby World Cup, Olympics and Paralympics, as well as VIP visits.
  • Support the delivery of the Embassy’s public diplomacy campaign for the Rugby, Olympics and Paralympics, including planning and execution before and during the Games. 

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Support the coordination and delivery of events at the Residence and British House.

Support events management, logistics and organisation at UK House or Games related events at the Residence during the 2023 Rugby World Cup, in the run-up to the 2024 Games and during the Games.

Working with colleagues, assist with the planning and development of the programme of events and the administration of relationships with stakeholders, including sponsors and delivery partners.

Help organise events including planning, logistics such as invitations, guest lists, set-up, content and catering.

Support the British Olympic Association/British Paralympic Association visits, recces, and events organised at the Embassy in the run up to Paris 2024 and at Games time.

  • Wider logistics support

This might include providing support to UK sports related visits such as arranging meetings and providing on-the-ground and logistical support to UK visitors; providing assistance for organising Embassy related events such as acting as a liaison with the team’s external stakeholders in France and in the UK and helping with logistics on the day of meetings and events. 

  • Wider Team support

Conduct information gathering and research tasks on behalf of the wider team and administer team information such as contact databases, standard briefing materials etc.

  • Good interpersonal and organisation skills to conduct duties effectively.
  • Business level English and French (speaking, reading and writing).
  • Experience of working in an English-speaking environment.
  • IT skills including the Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

This is a full-time and temporary position of 35 hours per week.
