View Vacancy - VNM - Events and Communications Officer, A2(L) (Temporary)
Main purpose of role:
To manage, co-ordinate and deliver successful British Embassy network ministerial and VIP visits and events, including the Queen’s Birthday Party and GREAT campaign. To be a member of the Communications team and support/coordinate the implementation of communication strategies, events management and soft power strategy of the network.
This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high profile visits and events that promote the UK priorities in Vietnam. You will work closely with different teams across the Vietnam network, including colleagues in the Consulate General in HCMC. You will have the opportunity to shape events programmes, work directly with government officials, colleagues in London and a wide range of stakeholders.
The relationship between the UK and Vietnam is growing across key areas including education, business, foreign policy and tourism. Your role will be central to amplifying the relationship in the key areas.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Events & Visits
- Planning, organising and coordinating a range of Embassy / UKinVietnam public events including the Queen’s Birthday Party.
- Planning, organising, coordinating and managing external events and budgets connected to the GREAT Campaign in Vietnam.
- Delivery of high-profile / VIP/ ministerial events and visits
- Supporting & coordinating on protocol issues for visits including liaison with local authorities and related visa issues.
- Ensuring sufficient monitoring and evaluating mechanisms are in place and drawing together lessons learned and next steps reports.
Communications
- Work closely with Comms leads to support implementation of network communications strategy, including social media and press relations.
- Leading and coordinating communications of events – particularly those that reflect and strengthen Communications team’s soft-power promotion objectives.
- Supporting internal communications work.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
Occasional line management of Interns. Budgets vary but up to £150,000 of GREAT campaign funding has previously been secured.
Essential on arrival:
- Fluent spoken and written Vietnamese and English
- Organisation and time management skills
- Customer focus and attention to detail
- Ability to work creatively without close supervision
- Problem solving skills and the ability to deliver under pressure
- Proven experience in developing digital and social media content
- Good communications and networking skills
Language requirements:
Language: English and Vietnamese
Level of language required: Fluent
- Experience in using website content management system and social media management applications
- Experience in producing audio-visual content for social media

Working patterns:
Office hours from 8.30 am – 16.45 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 15.00 pm Friday. Flexible working hours are also offered upon individual need and business operation requirement.
