Main Purpose of Job:

This client-facing role, externally known as the Business Development Manager, Startup Ecosystem will join DBT HK and sit within the Science, Innovation and Tech team. This role will be responsible for driving trade and investment in Hong Kong’s Tech start-up field, which includes but is not limited to information and communication technology, Internet of Things and smart city technology. 

What the Jobholder will be Expected to Achieve:  

Lead Generation and Service Delivery (35%)

  • Play a leading role in delivering against the team’s core KPI in trade and investment, trade shows & inward/outward missions
  • Identify and generate leads through various channels such as exhibitions, networking events, referrals, cold calling, and online research
  • Conduct market analysis to identify target markets, customer segments, and potential business opportunities
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract new clients and drive business growth
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling campaigns, promotional materials to attract potential clients 

Client Relationship Management (35%)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and partners
  • Understand the needs and requirements of clients, and provide them with tailored solutions
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering insights and guidance on market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscapes

Market Research and Analysis (20%)

  • Analyse market trends, competitive landscapes, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities
  • Provide regular reports and updates to management on market conditions, customer feedback, and competitor activities
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact business development strategies
  • Use data-driven approaches to identify potential target markets and customer segments

Cross-functional Collaboration and Support (10%)

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns
  • Coordinate with other sector teams on joint-opportunities
  • Work closely with the Economic and Global Issues Team to understand government priorities and align business development strategies accordingly

  • Higher diploma or above with minimum 3 years of relevant work experiences in sales/marketing/business development

Our Offer:

This position is open to Hong Kong citizens, permanent residents, and partners/dependents of UK-based diplomatic staff currently posted in Hong Kong.
