The British Embassy in Kazakhstan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic, trade, and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Trade Assistant and Events Manager.

The main focus of the job is to organise official visits and commercial events, and assist with trade enquiries from UK businesses. This will include wide range of logistical support, providing translation services and providing support DIT team. In addition the post holder will develop and maintain local contacts in relevant state and private sector authorities.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Organisation of all aspects of high-level visits and Missions to Kazakhstan by UK officials and companies.

  • Support the team in organising its major trade events. Tasks will include liaising with hosts and partners for the events, sponsors and participants, as well as other administrative and logistical arrangements. 

  • Support in organising and hosting official Embassy events and other receptions;

  • Assist the team in meetings and visits to external contacts by writing / translating business and visa support letters;

  • General support in relation to UK Trade & Investment work for UK companies - tailored market research services, event organisation and market visit programme organisation;

  • Liaise with official/business contacts and customers in the UK and Kazakhstan, e.g. responding to routine enquiries, requesting further information or chasing up replies; 

  • Carry out a range of delegated tasks, such as data entry, collating statistics, conducting research and contributing to reports and briefings compiled by the team;

  • Perform other ad hoc administrative support duties.

  • Fuency at C1 level both in English and Russian according to CEFR Framework*;

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Project or Event Management;

  • Previous professional experience within an international organisation or business;

  • An enthusiastic team player with personal drive and excellent customer service;

  • High detail-orientation and organizational skills;

  • High proficiency in MS Office applications;

  • Attention to customer care and respecting deadlines.

  • Fluency at B1 level in Kazakh according to CEFR Framework*;

  • Professional experience in an administrative role.

This is a full-time position of 5 working days (36 hours net) per week, fixed-term contract until the 31st January 2023.

Salary will be USD 1,190 per calendar month (gross). Please note that it is the employee’s responsibility to pay individual income tax.

Employees are entitled to annual leave entitlement pro-rata based on 25 days total per calendar year. In addition, the Embassy observes up to 14 days public holidays marking different Kazakh and UK holidays. The Embassy provides medical insurance for the job holder and two dependants.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a professional background check and security clearance, and is expected to commence employment as soon as possible.
