The British Embassy in Moscow is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a IT Support Officer Assistant (Moscow, Estates and Facilities Management Section).

Main purpose of job:

Working within the Estates and Facilities Management Section, this role provides efficient, high quality IT support, to staff at the British Embassy Moscow and Yekaterinburg Consulate.

The successful applicant will work alongside the lead ITSO to ensure the smooth running of IT services across the platform

The successful candidate will need to help deliver operational and strategic IT projects in cooperation with London and Hanslope Park based teams and be able to demonstrate flexibility to the operation of a range of tasks. Self-motivation will be a key asset.

Some IT knowledge would be an advantage, but the role offers an ideal opportunity for someone interested in this field and who is willing to learn more, the opportunity to develop further skills.

What will you be expected to achieve?

  • Working along-side the lead ITSO the officer will help provide a focal point for IT users in the embassy to all IT related queries, by acting as the local Help Desk support, responding to queries.
  • Build a strong working relationship with colleagues on the Hanslope Park Helpdesk to resolve IT issues when necessary.
  • Support IT infrastructure management systems, network and application support.
  • Maintain the Embassy’s IT infrastructure, reporting incidents and degradations in performance to Helpdesk.
  • Prepare local user guides and manuals for standalone systems, IT and technical systems, induction for newly appointed staff and ad hoc training.
  • Deliver IT project solutions, present own ideas in line with the FCDO rules considering feasibility at Post, oversee and control of delivery, if applicable.
  • Assist the Management rollout of any new centrally designed computer-based programmes.
  • Stakeholder engagement with local telecom, IT suppliers and related procurement activities.
  • Support users in operating Microsoft Teams.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Desirable:      

  • Experience in IT hardware and software.
  • Experience in fixing IT faults and maintaining IT related equipment.
  • Experience in managing IT systems.
  • College or degree qualification in IT, telecommunications or related technical systems.
  • Previous experience working in a foreign diplomatic mission or an international organisation.
  • Russian knowledge would be a bonus.

This is a permanent part-time contract, 3 working days, 21 hours per week.

The monthly salary for this position is Rub 56 646 gross, AO level, paid 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

Eligible candidates must hold one of the following passports: United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
