The British Embassy in Bratislava is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Communication Officer.

The main purpose of the job is to plan, create, administer, maintain and evaluate content for all Embassy digital channels - Facebook, Twitter, Embassy website (and potentially: LinkedIn, Instagram, vlogs).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively plan and seek new opportunities to produce digital content for Embassy social media in order to amplify Embassy + UK Government messages and increase impact of communications;
  • Liaise with colleagues and external stakeholders to produce digital campaigns;
  • Be confident in writing and editing text / posts in Slovak and English;
  • Be creative and innovative in delivering Embassy objectives using digital tools;
  • Assess impact of social media activities (key performance indicators, monitoring visitor statistics, reach, engagement, followers’ growth, etc.) and use this to suggest areas for improvement;
  • Create presentations, invitations, social media visuals, videos;
  • Advise the Ambassador / colleagues on best use of social media;
  • Implement FCO (plus other UK Government Departments, eg, No 10, British Council and other partner's) digital campaigns as instructed by HQ;
  • Assist Senior Communications and Political Officer in delivering public diplomacy and commercial diplomacy events and projects;
  • Help with media monitoring, handling media enquiries and arranging media engagements;
  • Provide admin support to wider Political team as required.

                          • University degree;
                          • Excellent command of English and Slovak. Editorial skills, ability to write compellingly online for different target audiences;
                          • Experience in digital marketing / digital comms, engaging online audiences and writing for the web;
                          • Experience with content management systems (Facebook Manager, Creator Studio, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite), social media, digital analytics, etc.;
                          • Awareness of new digital trends and practical experience in using digital tools;
                          • A team player able to work independently and flexibly, and able to deliver under tight deadlines and/or with limited resources;



                          • Degree or previous experience in communications, marketing or digital marketing;
                          • At least 2 years of relevant work experience (communications, public diplomacy, content production, graphic design, or marketing);
                          • Experience in video production (iMovie, Adobe), editing and graphic design(Canva, Adobe Photoshop), subtitling; autocue;
                          • Willingness to travel occasionally.

                          This is a full-time position, for a fixed term contract until 31 March 2021 with the possibility of renewal.

                          The monthly salary for this position is € 1,435.00 gross, payable 13 times a year.

                          The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.

                          Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Slovakia are subject to terms and conditions of service according to Slovak Labour Law.

                          Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Slovakia and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
