A newly created role providing communications and marketing support over the period of the relocation of the Embassy and the Ambassador’s Residence. The role will primarily focus on any communications and marketing linked with the old and new locations, but there may also be support needed for other ad hoc activities or events not linked, such as VIP visits and projects linked with the promotion of Global Britain.

Reporting to the Head of Communications & Marketing, the post holder must have excellent written and communication skills, both in English and Thai and have at least 2 years’ experience in a marketing communications role.


Roles and responsibilities:

The British Embassy is looking for an experienced and proactive Project Marketing Manager to work with the Communications & Marketing team and senior management to design and implement projects linked with the Embassy relocation, which in part will touch on the strengthening of the UK-Thailand relationship.

Good communication and marketing skills will be key to this job – both external and internal. External communication is tailoring the message to different audiences that will include the British expat audience, the local Thai business community, the local Thai general public and other key Thai stakeholders. Messages will be deployed using a range of marketing platforms and communication methods, including events at the old Embassy location, photo and video footage, social media and press. Internal communication needs to be clear and delivered in several different ways, in order to reach and engage as many staff as possible. You will also need to monitor the effectiveness of the internal communications.

You will be proactive, creative and imaginative in identifying opportunities to promote the Embassy’s messages.

The key roles of the jobholder will include, but not be limited to, working with the Communication Media Manager to foster the relationship with and work with local media (both Thai and English language), working with and advising the Head of Communications & Marketing on effective cultivation of key players both across media and social media (including the potential launch and management of the Embassy Instagram account), working with the Change Manager to develop and implement an improved Internal Communications strategy, working with the Events Team to support with Embassy events linked with the relocation.

Media Relations:

As a key member of the Communications & Marketing team, the jobholder will interact with the Ambassador, Deputy Head of Mission and other senior staff members. He/she must also be able to interact confidently with local media in order to identify new opportunities that will help push our key messages strategically and in a targeted manner – these can include interviews, photo and video shoots, editorials placed in key media and/or potential media partnerships on a particular subject or theme.

Social Media

There is an opportunity to help launch and manage the Embassy’s first Instagram account in Thailand. The jobholder will also work with the Communications & Marketing Officer to develop high quality, informative and engaging social media posts in various formats, including GIFs, vignettes, infographics and other different and creative methods. He/she will also develop a relationship with bloggers and social media influencers to identify suitable social media opportunities.

Internal communications:

Working with the Change Manager to develop high quality, informative and engaging internal communications. These activities would include: developing a strategic approach to internal communications and working with other sections to develop effective communication campaigns to raise staff awareness.

Event Management:

Supporting the Events Team, as appropriate, on projects/initiatives with a strong component regarding the relocation or large-scale Embassy events.

 

  • Minimum of 3 years marketing communications experience, including experience of using multiple communication and marketing platforms: web, social media, press (TV, print, online) and delivery of communications for multiple audiences
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • Proficient IT skills: MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to represent the Ambassador and the Embassy in a professional manner
  • Fluent Thai will be seen as an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders and facilitate partnerships (press, social media bloggers etc.)
