View Vacancy - Executive Assistant / Projects Officer
Contributing to the delivery of the UK government’s commercial work across Brazil and wider Latin America & Caribbean region (LATAC – 16 countries), consisting of two main elements:
- Managing Executive Office of Sao Paulo Consul General / LATAC Regional Director and Deputy Consul General / Brazil Country Director
- Supporting LATAC project work, reporting to thematic leads in markets around the region
Roles and responsibilities:
Supporting DIT Latin America & Caribbean work through involvement in specific projects, reporting to thematic leads in markets around the region. The jobholder will therefore work across a diverse and varied portfolio of activity, including supporting:
- Teams/markets in the region to deliver major activities, eg. promotional event or Ministerial visit
- Support the development of new areas of work for DIT LATAC, internally and externally, eg. Trade Policy
- Identification of new areas of commercial opportunity for the UK in Latin America & the Caribbean
- Region’s operational function at peak times, eg. business forecasting
- Deliver the annual DIT Regional Conference
Lead the Sao Paulo Executive Office with responsibility for :
- Strategic management of Consul General / Regional Director and Deputy Consul General / Country Director agendas - and supporting the A2 / intern as they manage the logistics of the diary
- Active management Consul General / Regional Director inbox – responsibility for flagging and dealing with urgent / important issues in the absence of either
- Creation of a plan for and overseeing the effective development of our proactive use of the contacts database
- Advice on day-to-day issues such as invitations and events working across teams in Brazil, UK and the continent
- Development of a strategic programme of cross-sector activities at the Consul General’s residence
- Overall responsibility for the Executive Office budget
- Support to the Ambassador and other senior visitors to Sao Paulo

The British Diplomatic Mission to Brazil, or “Brazil Network”, has a learning culture that encourages all of its staff to develop, through formal training, learning from others and on the job. On that basis, the successful candidate will be encouraged to carry out a formal induction at DIT Headquarters in London, visit the UK to develop knowledge of the UK supply in the Marine and Power sectors under the “Developing Sector Knowledge” initiative.
