The British Embassy in Moscow is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Residence Manager.

The main purpose of the job is to manage the very large British Ambassador’s Residence in Moscow and its grounds. A significant and busy events delivery facility, ensuring high quality events are held reflecting the very best of British values. Also ensure the care of state and guest rooms (and VIP guests), managing the safekeeping of high-value fixtures and safeguarding the care and privacy of the Ambassador and his/her family. To also manage the Residence’s team of dedicated staff, following established good practice, budgets and auditable assets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To organise and deliver an extensive range of events at the Residence, from a 600+ national day event, to receptions, concerts, recitals, fashion shows, company launch shows, weddings, charity events, and discrete dinners and one-to-ones throughout the year. Each event must be meticulously organised, run smoothly from the arrival of guests at the security gate to their departure, and reflect in the most positive way on the reputation of the Ambassador and the United Kingdom. Food and drink products should be of the highest standards, with caterers and other suppliers actively sought to supplement the Residence’s own chefs. To achieve this is, it important that the Residence Manager has solid managerial skills and is able to develop strong professional and co-operative relationships with the Embassy’s Events teams, the Events Development Adviser, the Ambassador and his/her Spouse;
  • Outreach to other Diplomatic Residence Managers, and relevant contacts to be aware of competitors and trends;
  • Management of the budget and accounts, ensuring financial guidelines and audit recommendations are adhered to. Provide timely and accurate budget forecasts, and prices and costs for events at the Residence, for the Events Development Adviser, to clients and internal reporting to FCO. Ensure invoicing is carried out promptly;
  • Ensure regular updates of inventories, including of high value assets, and develop working and audit compliant models for stock control. Development and regularly refresh of a set of suppliers for services, particularly high end caterers, with the Events Development Officer;
  • Ensure the Residence’s guests’ rooms are maintained and updated, and that all official and private guests are serviced to the highest standards, again ensuring the Ambassador’s reputation as a host is strong. Ensure the Ambassador’s private family rooms are maintained to a high standard, the family are supported and their privacy strictly maintained at all time;
  • Oversight of maintenance and upkeep of the building, both inside and out, ensuring it is in top condition, health and safety compliant, and ready to be used for a broad range of events and functions, liaising with the Embassy’s Facilities Management Team;
  • Provide quality management of the Resident’s permanent staffing.
  • Proven management ability;
  • Proactive energetic team player, able to work collaboratively and at a high professional level with a very broad range of colleagues and contacts at all levels(including VVIPs).
  • Fluent written and spoken English;
  • Excellent numeric/analysis, customer service, communication and presentation skills;
  • IT Skills (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.);
  • Knowledge and experience of food services (Silver and French standards, wine, cocktail service, table settings, etc.)
  • Russian language skills, not mandatory (would be a distinct advantage);
  • Previous experience of working at management level (ideally in a Private household, Embassy or Hotel) would be an advantage;
  • A clean driving license.

This is a full-time permanent position for 5 working days, 35 hours net per week.

The monthly salary for this position is Rub 125,826 gross, C4 (L) level, paid 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
