View Vacancy - Work Experience Programme at the British Embassy Abu Dhabi

The British Embassy Abu Dhabi is offering a Work Experience Programme opportunity for students who wish to learn more about the work that Embassies undertake. It is aimed at students who wish to experience and understand the work of an Embassy, develop workplace skills and who have an interest in studying related subjects in the future. The work experience will cover the Political, Trade and Operations departments within the Embassy. A full programme will be provided to successful applicants ahead of the placement.

 The Work Experience Programme is for one week duration, starting on 21st June 2020 and will last up until 25th June 2020. 

You will be introduced to a Mentor as part of this Programme; you will spend time gaining insights into the Political, Trade and Operations department functions. You will also receive an overview of other departments in the Embassy.

Programme hours:

Work experience hours at the Embassy will be from 07:30 to 14:30 Sunday to Thursday, including a lunch break.

This is a full-time programme and you are expected to be available for the full duration to ensure maximum benefit of the placement.

 

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

·       Minimum age of 15 years old at the time of the programme start date.

·       Student from Year 10 to Year 12 according to the British curriculum.

·       Hold a valid resident permit in the UAE.

·       A motivation letter (No more than 250 words) – stating why you are applying for this opportunity, including what you hope to achieve through this programme and how this programme aligns with your career aspirations.  

·       Approval from your school to attend the programme or a recommendation letter from a teacher to support the application.

·       Approval from your parent or guardian.


All applications must submitted by Tuesday 3rd March. Applications received after the stated deadline will not be considered.

Selection process:

We anticipate this programme will be popular, therefore, only those shortlisted for the next step of the process will be contacted. If you do not hear from us by Thursday 5th March unfortunately you will not have been successful in your application. 

 

Selected students will be invited to the Embassy to meet the Work Experience Panel and discuss your application and the successful candidate will be notified of the result by Sunday 8th March.
