NCA (National Crime Agency)

Main Purpose of Job:

To provide an efficient support service to National Crime Agency (NCA) operations, programmes, or projects, contributing towards the successful delivery of business objectives across the Southern Africa region.  

Engage with law enforcement partners including police forces and provide tactical and intelligence support to operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist advice and knowledge to colleagues and partners to support achievement of organisational objectives and enable compliance with organisational policy
  • Identify key learning objectives and training needs of specific groups and individuals
  • Plan, design and develop training products which satisfy identified learning needs
  • Deliver / oversee implementation of projects; monitoring through regular stakeholder engagement and intervening as necessary to ensure the projects deliver the expected results
  • Evaluate training, learning and development programmes
  • Monitor overall programme finances including: accurate budgeting and forecasting, ensuring value for money, processing and receipting invoices
  • Facilitate, coach and mentor groups and individuals
  • Determine and utilise assessment strategies to identified standards
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the NCA International Liaison Officer and regional manager in line with NCA policies and procedures
  • Liaise with FCDO and other HMG partners on behalf of the NCA
  • Support the ILO and Regional Manager in liaising with foreign law enforcement agencies; UK law enforcement; other NCA departments and external partners
  • Represent the NCA at meetings, conferences and events
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the NCA office manager when required
  • Maintain NCA assets, including vehicles
  • On occasions, be able to provide out of hours support to NCA activity
  • Provide ad hoc support to the ILO as required

Resources Managed:

Office budget of approximately £200,000

  • A working knowledge of law enforcement agencies in the UK and southern Africa
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential material
  • Demonstrate a high level of discretion and integrity
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised at times
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence for South Africa
  • Experience in forecasting and managing budgets
  • Ability to produce reports and maintain records to a high standard
  • A working knowledge of FCO and NCA IT systems
  • Experience in researching for and drafting Intelligence Reports

Learning and development opportunities:

  • There will be various mandatory NCA and FCDO E-Learning training required to be undertaken for any successful applicant
  • The successful applicant will be expected to become familiar with the Civil Service Code, NCA Code and relevant behaviour standards
  • The successful applicant may be required to attend training in line with NCA/FCDO Policies/Procedures

The British High Commission pays in full for the Key Care Plus option on Discovery Health for staff including spouses/partners and dependants.

  • Once you have successfully completed your probation the British High Commission will contribute 9% of your monthly salary to a Provident Fund.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 25 days
  • Working hours per week of 36.5
