The British Embassy in Moscow is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for an Residence Manager Assistant.

The main purpose of the job is to assist the Residence Manager in delivering support to the British Ambassador and immediate family.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide full assistance to the Residence Manager with the delivery of events at the Residence (daily meals, receptions and afternoon teas);
  • Liaise closely with stakeholders regarding all events held in the Residence to ensure a quality service is delivered;
  • Organize function according to Customer’s request and as directed by the Residence Manager;
  • Choose wines and arrange venue (sitting plans, furniture, IT/AV equipment and table settings);
  • Engage and manage adequate staffing for events, coordinate external contractors, compile and maintain a database;
  • Coordinate service during an event, supervise external contractors and liaise with Chefs to ensure food is served promptly and tables are cleared efficiently;
  • Monitor stock levels and re-stock when necessary during an event;
  • Support and guide Residence clients and customers during an event;
  • Address problems/risks to the Residence Manager and supervise clear-out at close of event;
  • Assist with the Residence maintenance and upkeep;
  • Carry out regular stock checks of wine and non-kitchen products;
  • Replenish regularly all refrigerators and pantry stores with non-kitchen products. Take note of all expiry dates;
  • Assist with the weekly purchase as directed by the Residence Manager/Chef;
  • In the absence of the Residence Manager, use the CALC Menu system to re-evaluate and amend recipe prices;
  • Undertake bi-monthly stock takes (all silver, crockery and tableware) and maintain a computerised inventory;
  • Maintain secured all Residence IT and event equipment;
  • Manage Residence permanent staff, monitor workload, record working hours and overtime;
  • Cover for the Residence Manager during periods of absence;
  • Other duties as deemed operationally necessary by the Head of Section.
  • Good command of English and Russian, verbal and written;
  • Knowledge and experience of food services standards (Silver and French. Wine, Cocktail service, Tablet settings);
  • Good IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office;

  • Ability to work unsupervised;
  • Customer focus with ability to interact with contacts at all levels, both internal and external;
  • Strong organisational and management skills;
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask.

This is a full-time, permanent contract, 45 hours net per week (flexibility will be required). The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible

The monthly salary for this position is Rub 77,698 gross, A2 level, paid 13 times a year.
