Main purpose of the job:

The primary focus of this job is to focus on building strong relationships with existing and new UK investors, providing a world class service to help them with their queries to deliver Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) wins from North India to the UK.

Roles and responsibilities:

60% -

  • To support the delivery of North India strategic investment priorities and target of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) successes. Promote the UK as the preferred investment destination by undertaking at least 60-80 company visits as per sector priorities. Deliver 8-10 UK Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Wins from potential/existing investors. Create a robust pipeline of active projects.
  • Ensure North India investment pipeline across sectors is at a minimum of 20 active projects and that the project pipeline and all databases are kept up to date. Complete follow up of all investment enquiries and lead on investment related activities and events including follow-up.

20% -

  • Strategic Relationship Management: focus on our top/ large Investors who deliver significant value in terms of their Investments in the UK. Adhere to the Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) model of pipeline management, Strategic contacts, Data Hub management etc. 
  • Participate and lead on Outreach events and activities in Tier 2 cities including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Lucknow, Agra etc. This will contribute in building a pipeline from these cities with a focus on high value projects. Ensure follow up and ongoing communication and support to these potential Investors. 

30% -

  • Build relationships with external stakeholders (trade bodies/ multipliers) and engage with them strategically. Attend their events if there is a possibility to network with investors or to showcase the strengths of UK.
  • To lead and co-ordinate activities to support the India Investment network's sector campaigns through virtual teams. Work with India colleagues, Investment Services Team, headquarter teams and sector specialists (India & UK) to plan and execute campaigns and achieve the sector targets of 25-30 successes.
  • Customer Relationship Management system: To ensure every interaction is updated on our central system at regular intervals to reflect the most updated status of all projects. Work within the system’s processes to verify and win investment projects. 

Language requirements: 

Language: English

Level of language required: Highly proficient in written and spoken English.

Essential on arrival:  

  • Should have at least 4 years of total and 2 years of relevant professional experience of working in Trade & Investment, Business Development and FDI attraction/ program delivery in either public/ private sector/ embassies.
  • Knowledge of the role of governments and private sector in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
  • Knowledge of factors that influence trade, investments, expansion decisions, and value proposition for investors.
  • Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skill.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working in the area of Trade & Investment focussing on FDI. 
  • Experience using business and web-based tools, technology (i.e. Microsoft Excel, eCRM systems, financial and FDI databases) for FDI promotion, tracking and data management.
  • A graduate/ post-graduate/ diploma from a recognized university, preferably in Finance/ Economics/Foreign Direct Investment and Regulation/ International Trade/ Export Promotion etc.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
