To support the DIT Country Director in delivery of the DIT Regional Trade plan in Cambodia, to grow trade and investment with the UK, support a development and prosperity agenda, and address market access issues. The job-holder will play a key role in the delivery of DIT’s events calendar and communications campaigns. The role will also involve researching export opportunities, maintaining CRM records and keeping up-to-date with business environment or market access issues.

  • Delivery of multiple high quality virtual events to promote UK plc excellence in infrastructure, education and finance. Work to ensure relevant stakeholder attendance at these events.
  • Coordinate between Embassy partners, collaborators and contracted implementers to ensure smooth running and delivery of DIT events.
  • Working closely with FCDO Post Communications Officer,  draft tailored messages for post-led communications campaigns, and  assist  in  dissemination of , region-led and Whitehall-led communications campaigns.
  • Assist the research, monitoring and validation of export opportunities, including working with Embassy partners to maintain the Exporting is GREAT platform and triage potential suppliers.
  • Assist in the maintenance of DataHub/CRM recording of interactions, including managing records of local network, both UK and Cambodian.
  • Support any surveys of UK business in Cambodia, including ad hoc collation of market access or business environment issues.
  • Ad hoc administrative support to Country Director, for example, assisting with general or sector specific trade and investment related research.
  • Degree in related subject plus 1-2 years related experience in a private or public sector
  • Ability to communicate with clarity, both written (eg producing accurate, concise meeting notes, and clear email messages) and orally (telephone and video communications)
  • Solid knowledge of IT applications and MS Windows
  • Evidence of self-motivation, professionalism and the ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Evidence of adaptability and ability to prioritise between competing, challenging tasking
  • Ability to work with agility and flexibility to fit into small but dynamic and growing team
  • language requirement: English (required), Khmer (desirable)
  • Trade, trade policy, economics, development or international relations qualifications or related experience
  • Events and project management skills and experience delivering results against deadlines/targets
  • A proven track record of successful relationship management with  high-level stakeholders and international clients
  • Familiarity with the UK is an advantage
  • Basic understanding of global trade, commerciality and economics

This is a fixed-term role until 31 May 2022, with possibility of extension.

There are plenty of opportunities to develop on the job, and to establish expertise in international trade. Specific areas and activities include:

  • Courses and materials and offered by the trade / prosperity academy of the Diplomatic Academy
  • Attending external events and conferences hosted by academic institutions, business chambers, etc.
  • Taking part in learning sets with regional colleagues

Normal working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday - remote working may be possible and sometimes advised, subject to manager’s prior approval.

The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary and benefits, leave entitlement, and training opportunities.

We also offer 18 days of leave entitlement per annum in pro rata.
