Main purpose of job:

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the part of British Government that helps UK-based companies succeed globally and supports overseas companies to bring investment to the UK. DIT values an inclusive and diverse workplace. This position is open to applications from all backgrounds.

This position is responsible for supporting DIT’s financial and professional services work in Brazil. Working alongside the Financial Services Business Development Manager, this role will build relationships and support UK companies to win business and to increase the flow of investment between Brazil and the UK.

You will assist the development and management of a pipeline of commercial opportunities in Brazil for UK companies with particular focus on, but not limited to, Professional Services, Insurance and Reinsurance. You will also be responsible for the team’s administrative tasks and for regularly updating our client-management database.

Roles and responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on improving bilateral trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Brazil, especially through supporting the increase in UK exports. 

The Financial Services team works to support High Value UK and Brazilian companies with significant trade potential as well as large UK investors in Brazil. The team currently focuses on Asset Management, FinTech, Insurance and Re-insurance and Professional Services sectors, including Green Finance.

For the sectors you lead on, you will be responsible for managing a pipeline of commercial opportunities and researching and validating new opportunities as and when they arise. Your success in this position will primarily be measured on the value of exports you assist British companies to achieve and also the actions taken to address market barriers.

You will support exporting companies from the UK to access the Brazilian market by delivering a number of high profile events, sharing market information, supporting on marketing campaigns, as well as assisting on the understanding of the market access barriers. 
You will be responsible for supporting the delivery a number of events in Brazil and the UK that will be designed to showcase the best of British Financial Services to our customers. You will support the production of content for events, missions and commercial meetings and will lead on the preparation of market research reports, internal briefings and visiting programmes.
The position will suit an energetic team player, motivated self-starter with an interest in the commercial sector. It will require a positive and proactive attitude that thinks in terms of unlocking opportunities for UK companies in Brazil. 

Essential on arrival:  
• University degree in International Relations / International Business / Finance / Economics / Law or related fields.
• 2 years minimum experience in business development and/or client relationship management role.
• Outstanding command of MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• Ability to solve problems, prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks.


Language requirements: 

Language: English and Portuguese

Level of language required: Fluent in both languages 

Desirable:  
• Knowledge/understanding of the British and Brazilian Financial / Professional Services Sector.
• Previous line-management experience.
