The job holder’s main role and focus will be on trade promotion for sectors that include power, renewable energy, oil and gas, water and environment. Through trade missions, market development activities and support to outward investment, the jobholder will contribute to DIT performance targets, i.e. export wins. 

 

The jobholder will also contribute to increase exports of British products and services to the Philippines by expanding and strengthening network of relevant public and private stakeholders, and longer term positioning of the UK as a preferred partner for Philippine businesses and projects.

 

The jobholder is expected to possess project management skills to effectively plan and execute innovative trade promotion and business development activities for identified sectors.  While it does not require a deep level of technical or specialist knowledge, it is expected that the job holder will be able to support UK company requirements effectively.  

 

The successful applicant will also assist the Director in promoting inward investment to the UK, and will have line management responsibility for a DIT regional administrative support officer.

 

  • TRADE, SERVICE DELIVERY (60%): Deliver quality business support services to UK companies trading and investing in the Philippines, and help them secure export wins in sectors to include power, renewable energy, oil and gas, water and environment. Support cross-team collaboration (wider embassy at post, and DIT regional and HQ) and pursue strategic engagement with regional offices of UK companies in relevant sectors.

 

  • TRADE, PROMOTION (25%): Design and deliver sector-related trade promotion campaigns (e.g. trade missions, webinar, fora/seminars/workshops, receptions, etc) to enhance UK reputation in general, and highlight specific UK industry capabilities and expertise to relevant market stakeholders. Strategic relationship building and management, with sector-relevant public and private stakeholders, will be essential.

 

  • TRADE, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT/ADMINISTRATION (5%): Prepare and manage programme and activity budgets, prepare briefing and reporting requirements, and comply with administrative reporting requirements using appropriate tools and prescribed systems.

 

  • INWARD INVESTMENT TO UK (10%): Provide support to DIT Director in implementing an inward investment strategy promoting the UK as the destination of choice for Philippine investors.  Led by the DIT Director, this will involve liaising with UK inward investment team and developing key relationships in market for investment opportunities into the UK.

The applicant should be a dynamic self-starter and multi-tasker that delivers quality and timely results. In addition, the successful candidate should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (oral & written) in both Filipino and English
  • Able to build a network of key contacts and stakeholders in relevant sectors
  • Able to work as part of a team and is highly organised
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

We are looking for a candidate with a related degree in business, economics or finance and with a minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience (e.g. on trade, business development or marketing).

 

Ideally, we also prefer one with an existing network of key contacts in the specified sectors, or if not, must exhibit the capability to build his/her relevant network.
