To provide administrative support functions to the Embassy’s Energy Team.

 

  1. (50%) Supporting arrangements for visits and travel for UK and Chinese ministers and officials. Arranging visit programmes for official visitors. Booking hotels, travel and interpreters. Liaising between visitors and Chinese contacts. Arranging programmes for Chinese officials and Ministers visiting the UK.  
  2.  (30%) Arranging meetings and travel for team members; inviting and coordinating attendance of external contacts for official Embassy events. Monitoring Energy Team’s travel and entertainment budget and providing logistical support for key team and Embassy events.
  3.  (15%) Providing policy support, particularly information gathering, on China’s climate and energy developments. Providing support to implementation of collaboration on low carbon and energy.
  4.  (5%) Supporting the Energy team’s learning and development by managing regular teach-ins and knowledge sharing with key experts.

  • Adaptability and ability to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience of administrative work in a busy team environment

This is an opportunity to work as part of an award winning team with a focus on energy issues in China. UK-China energy collaboration spans a wide range of sectors and institutions, many at the cutting edge of the global energy transition. The Energy Team provides strategy, leadership and coordination for major collaboration initiatives, and a wide range of policy, technical and commercial exchanges. As such, this is a busy role providing support for an active team. The role is primarily task-focused, but there will also be opportunities for the job holder to develop a deeper understanding of energy policy, and links to main energy industry and governance stakeholders in China and the UK. 

 

We offer a competitive package, which includes basic salary, good leave entitlement, and insurance plan, etc. The gross salary (before all deductions) is CNY 10,348 per month for Chinese Nationals and an abated monthly salary of CNY 14,559 per month for British Nationals and spouses/partners (all nationalities) of diplomats who are ‘W’ (diplomatic) visa holders and meet passport criteria.

 

We also offer excellent development opportunities and a 22-day annual leave entitlement in pro rata. Conditioned working hours is 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday and flexible working can be arranged upon personal needs.
