The British Embassy in Prague is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are currently seeking to recruit a Political Support Officer to join the Political.

The Political Support Officer main purpose is to provide support to the political team by drafting and feeding into regular political reporting that the Embassy provides for senior stakeholders in London. The jobholder will also develop a strong network of contacts in Czech political and media circles, support colleagues through undertaking administrative tasks, such as budget forecasting, basic accounting, and setting up meetings and provide support on the Embassy’s public diplomacy campaigns, including leading on some specific projects and events.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To develop a strong network of contacts in Czech politics and media;
  • Using your own knowledge and expertise, to provide support in the drafting of the team’s political reporting;
  • To undertake administrative tasks on behalf of the team. This could include basic accounting, budgeting, and helping to organise meetings;
  • Working with colleagues from other teams, to design and implement public diplomacy campaigns and events;
  • Working in a dynamic policy context, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new areas of cooperation, and should be agile and responsive to emerging priorities from the UK government.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject (Political, International Relations, etc.);
  • Fluent in Czech and English languages both oral and written;
  • Excellent understanding of the Czech political system;
  • Experience of team working and excellent communication skills;
  • High standard of professional behaviour.

Experience of working or undertaking an internship in government, think tanks or other relevant field.

This is a full-time position, fixed-term contract of 11 months.
