Main purpose of job: 

Your main responsibility will be the implementation and administration of a Migration and Returns Fund project, ensuring project activity leads to positive outcomes in country and delivers on UK objectives and value for money.  You will work in close co-ordination with the Migration Delivery Officer (MDO) in Dhaka to manage and deliver projects in support of activities that deter and/or tackle irregular migration.

Roles and responsibilities:

This role is suited to a motivated person who is able to work on their own initiative without needing direction.  You will be expected to work flexibly and prioritise workloads in order to achieve project outcomes in a busy and challenging environment.

Programme and Project Management:

You will be expected to deliver on a migration project, ensuring agreed outcomes are delivered in accordance with UK Government financial and project management principals and guidelines.  You will be expected to ensure that project activities and outputs are delivered in line with agreed activity based budgets, that project delivery is effectively monitored, risks are adequately captured and mitigated, and that project activities represent value for money. You will be expected to report regularly to the MDO and colleagues within the British High Commission and to Home Office and FCO officials in London on impact of the projects and performance.

In co-ordination with the MDO and other High Commission colleagues, you will also be expected to develop new project bids to meet strategic migration related objectives in 2019/20. 

You will also be required to spend 20% of your time on other migration related activity which assists the overall objectives of the section and mission.

Engagement:

You will be expected to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, utilising these relationships to ensure the achievement of UK migration and the returns agenda through project delivery.

Development:

You will be responsible for your professional development, seeking and seizing opportunities that will enable you to carry out your role more effectively.

Resources managed (staff and expenditure): 

The position does not have any direct line management responsibility. However you will have oversight of a project allocation (currently approx £50k). You will be responsible for sound financial management and oversight in line with UK best practice.  You will have access to a travel and development budget to support delivery of your objectives and your personal development within the position.

Language: English and Bangla 

Level of language required: Fluent (Oral and Written)

Learning and development opportunities:

As both a British High Commission staff member as well as a locally engaged FCO official you will have opportunities to personally develop yourself through on job training; mentoring; job shadowing; e-learning and other online development tools; as well as possible regional training opportunities.

Essential on arrival:  

Previous project management experience and a proven track record of delivering successful projects in difficult environments. Any applicants who do not meet this requirement or are unable to provide evidence of how they meet this requirement in their application will not be shortlisted for interview. 

Desirable:  Previous professional knowledge and work experience in the field of migration.

SALARY PACKAGE:

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply. 

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be BDT 88,705 per month. 

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment and security checks. 

No entitlement of other benefit and Sick leave as it's a short term position. No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
