The British Embassy in Paris is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. It is also part of the UK’s France Network, including offices in Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseilles and representation to international organisations in Paris (OECD and UNESCO) and Strasbourg (CoE).The British Embassy is currently looking for a Security Officer, reporting to the Deputy Post Security Manager and the Post Security Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Control the access of vehicles and visitors coming to the British Embassy and conducting vehicle search;
  • Supervising access control to our buildings;
  • Escorting visitors and contractors;
  • Making sure that all security procedures are well implemented;
  • Carry out the Locking and unlocking of the building.
  • Working as a Security Officer at the Residence, supervising the access control to the premises
  • Monitoring CCTV and testing Alarms
  • Making sure that details of visitors and staff are logged
  • Issuing Passes to visitors
  • Make sure that contractors are escorted in the building
  • Registering and scanning mail and parcel delivered to the Embassy
  • Liaising with the French Authorities when required
  • Doing access control and carry out guest list checks during events at the Residence
  • Completion of Security tasks according to the Standard Operating Procedures.


  • Proven track record of working well in a team but also autonomously;
  • Ability to work shift patterns (including weekends, Nights and Bank holidays) and to be flexible;       regarding taking on Extra shifts to cover colleague’s absences;
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent communication skills;
  • Proven track record of making quick and effective decisions;
  • Punctuality and excellent personal presentation;
  • Proficient English and French language Skills.
  • First Aid Trained;
  • Previous experience in a security environment (Private, military or Police)

This is a temporary contract maternity leave cover of 6 months, extendable until return of the job holder
