View Vacancy - Senior Political Officer (CZE18.176)
The British Embassy in Czech Republic is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Senior Political Officer.
The main purpose of the job is to track and report Czech EU positions, with particular focus on trade and economic issues. Lobbying and providing policy advice on these areas, particularly in relation to the UK’s exit from the EU. Providing policy advice on other issues on an ad hoc basis.
Roles and responsibilities:
Report, lobby and influence Czech government on EU economic issues;
Report, lobby and influence Czech government on Trade, especially in the context of the UK exiting the EU;
Report and conduct analysis on the Czech domestic economy;
Contribute to reporting as a member of Central European Network Prosperity Team;
Provide policy and operational support on ad hoc issues as they arise;
Take an active role in the governance of the Embassy.
At least two years of relevant professional experience and a demonstrable interest in policy work.
Solid understanding of Czech policy environment.
Ability to set strategic direction, take initiative and work independently.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
Strong interpersonal skills, including confidence and assertiveness when dealing with senior stakeholders.
Ability to develop and work through a broad network of contacts to achieve objectives.
A very high level of written and spoken English and Czech. This will be tested at interview.
- Previous experience working on EU issues;
- An interest in and understanding of UK politics.
