The British Embassy in The Netherlands, part of a world-wide network of 230 Diplomatic Posts, representing British Political, and Economic and Consular interests overseas is now looking for an A2 Accounts Assistant to provide support in various accounting and purchase to pay tasks for local staff and UK based staff working for the UK Mission in The Hague.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to multitask and deal calmly and professionally with conflicting demands on his/her time.

Main Duties and Responsibilities


PURCHASE TO PAY PROCESSES

  • Deal with the weekly payment registers reviewing and resolving queries;
  • Make bank payments to suppliers and staff;
  • Complete the Network Post Account report;
  • Complete and maintain the Cash Balance Spreadsheet;
  • Replenish cash imprests;
  • Complete Debit Memo requests;
  • Complete Non Discretionary Payment Requests and Emergency Payment Requests;
  • Prepare and submit the quarterly VAT return;
  • Deputise for CSM on Hyperion tasks;
  • Work with the CSM and Communications Team to ensure guidance on Corporate Services P2P is up to date and easily accessible on the intranet;
  • Along with job share partner, assist the CSM as required.

 

COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT

  • Communicate and clarify purchase to pay policies and procedures to local and UKB staff;
  • Support staff with I expenses and supplier set up forms.

 

TROUBLE SHOOTING

  • Trouble shoot and deal with staff/supplier enquiries concerning payment of invoices/claims.

 

TEAM SUPPORT

  • Assist the CS Manager in gathering and organising budget and salary data and inputting data in Hyperion and the Medium term financial plan;
  • Deputise for CSM on Hyperion tasks.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices;
  • At least 1 year’s experience working in an administrative /support role preferably in the field of accounting/ and or finance;
  • Ability to multi task and deal calmly with conflicting demands on time;
  • Excellent IT skills Word, Outlook and especially Excel.
  • Accounting Qualification;
  • Experience of working in an international/multilateral environment;
  • Understanding of organisational budget and finance issues;
  • HR or Finance work experience;
  • Dutch skills.

The successful candidate will initially be offered an one-year temporary contract at A2 level. The base salary for this position is €2,876.87 gross per month, based on a working week of 36 hours. In addition, an 8% annual holiday allowance and a monthly travel allowance are payable. The Embassy currently applies a performance based bonus pay model for local staff.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in The Netherlands. Please note that The Embassy is not a tax withholding employer. Consequently staff members are responsible for paying their own income tax and social security on the gross salary received.

The successful candidate will undergo a professional background check; any job offer is also provisional to a successful security clearance check.
