The British Embassy Riyadh has vacancies for Entry Clearance Assistants (ECA) on temporary contracts starting March 2019. These are fixed term contracts for an initial period of six (6) months in response to seasonal demand.

Successful candidates will undertake a number of 'back office' administrative functions essential in supporting visa decision makers and the wider visa operation.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Data check visa applications on arrival in the Visa Section.
  • Maintain a number of management information resources.
  • Assist with sticking and embossing of entry clearance vignettes in passports.
  • Support the wider visa operation via a number of general administrative office tasks: filing, weeding, shredding, etc.

Key competencies required:

  • Delivering at Pace - Focusing on delivering timely performance with energy and taking responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes. Working to agreed goals and activities and dealing with challenges in a responsive and constructive way.
  • Collaborating and Partnering - Creating and maintaining positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside the organisation to help get business done. Working collaboratively, sharing information and building supportive, responsive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, whilst having the confidence to challenge assumptions.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, with an IELTS score at a minimum of level 6.5 or an equivalent qualification, or evidence of secondary/ higher education in the medium of English.
  • Computer literate. Experienced in using Microsoft Office applications and with accurate typing skills of at least 25 words per minute. You must be prepared to provide evidence of this during the interview. You can check your typing speed by entering the words ‘typing test’ into a web search engine such as Google and selecting one of the providers of free typing speed tests.
  • Ability to work quickly and reliably with little supervision and meet challenging targets on a daily basis.
  • Adaptable and flexible with a positive attitude to change.
  • Proven ability to work quickly and accurately in a target driven environment, prioritising key tasks as necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in a fast paced office environment.

Salary details:

  • Base Salary including Eid bonus - SAR 4,507.97
  • Housing Allowance - SAR 1,126.99 (subject to eligibility)*
  • Travel Allowance - SAR 400 (subject to eligibility)*

*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form.


No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) operates on shifts between 07:00 - 16:00 and successful candidates would be expected to work 7-hour shifts between these hours.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.

Eligibility:

The position is only available to Saudi nationals and holders of Saudi residence permits or transferable Iqamas. Successful candidates will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Embassy.
