To support and deputise for the Defence Attaché in the delivery of UK Defence Engagement aims and objectives. Work closely with Lithuanian, UK MOD’s and both Armed Forces to advance UK’s engagement on Defence and Security agendas. Coordinate on related work through lobbying, delivery of visits and projects to deepen the bilateral defence relationship.  

Conduct all administrative requirements of the Defence Section.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To support the Defence Attaché in obtaining strategic insight and pol-mil influence.
  • Deliver timely and accurate reporting and analytical comment on country and regional defence and security matters to the Defence Attaché.
  • Develop and nurture productive relationships with relevant stakeholders in the bilateral defence relationship.
  • Assist in managing the Defence Section in extant regulations and security procedures, within budget.
  • To support activity as required, principally through facilitating access, basing and clearances.
  • To plan and deliver components of the Defence Section objectives as directed by the Defence Attaché.
  • To assist the Defence Attaché to correctly manage programmes and spending, produce forecasts of outturn, ensure programme and training databases are accurate and spending is correctly accounted for.
  • Manage the provision of UK training to Lithuanian MoND and Armed Forces through ESCAPADE.

  • IT skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including briefing and presentational;
  • Degree level education (in relevant areas Political/ International relations)

  • Previous experience/knowledge in political and defence and security environment.

This is a full-time, permanent contract of 35 hours per week.
