The British Embassy in Luxembourg, is part of a world-wide network of nearly 270 diplomatic offices, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are looking for a Trade & Investment Adviser based in Luxembourg to join the Belgium-Luxembourg DIT (Department for International Trade) team.

Working for the Department for International Trade (DIT), the main purpose of the role is to underpin the UK’s prosperity and strengthen the UK’s relationships by growing British exports to Luxembourg, increasing Luxembourg investment in the UK and ensuring continued market access for British companies.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to promote the UK to an important trading partner country. We are looking for a motivated, commercially driven professional with excellent account management and organisational skills to join our team.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the Belux trade and investment team to deliver the DIT country plan and annual trade and investment targets.
  • Promote the UK as an investment location, manage a pipeline of investment projects and provide account management services to existing investors.
  • Identify business opportunities and assist UK companies to sell their goods and services in Luxembourg.
  • Contribute to trade policy activities and regular reporting on the trade policy context.
  • Focus on those sectors that add most value to the UK economy, especially but not exclusively on financial and professional services, technology, clean growth and defence & security.
  • Establish strong relationships with the local business community, business and trade associations and other external stakeholders.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver business events with the aim of driving export growth and investment into the UK.
  • Represent DIT and the Embassy at external functions, including occasional speaking engagements.
  • Proactively contribute to cross-Belux team and Embassy activities and programs and support a collaborative workplace.
  • In light of the changing environment around the UK Missions, this role is not limited to the tasks described above; responsibilities may evolve through time. Any change of responsibilities will be reflected in the job description.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and French (minimum level required C1 under the CEFRL or equivalent*).
  • Experience in a marketing, business development, consultancy or trade/investment promotion discipline.
  • A self-starter, able to show initiative and work independently and at pace, without losing sight of priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to transmit complex messages to senior stakeholders clearly and effectively.
  • Results driven; with experience of delivering against challenging targets
  • Strong account management and networking skills.
  • A good understanding of the UK and Luxembourg business environment including business drivers. 
  • A working level knowledge of Luxembourgish or German. 
  • Previous work experience in or knowledge of any of the priority sectors listed.

This is a full-time position on a permanent contract.

The advertised annual salary includes a 13th month salary bonus payment which is also part of the remuneration pack.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
