View Vacancy - Baltic Regional Energy and Climate Officer (LTU22.602)
The British Embassy in Vilnius is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Baltic Regional Energy and Climate Officer.
Main purpose of job: The job holder will work with UK Embassies in Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius to promote UK interests in the Baltic region’s government energy and climate policies. Working closely with a senior energy and climate adviser in Olso, the job holder will work from one of our Baltic Embassies to help deliver plans for greater UK engagement on climate and energy issues. In addition to this, the job holder will provide targeted support to political officers covering climate in our embassies in Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius by providing a regional overview, further resilience and project support.
Your priorities will include:
You will be required to report regularly to FCDO and other lead departments in the UK with up-to-date information and insights on country-specific and regional positions. Whilst you will be based in either Riga, Tallinn or Vilnius, you will be expected to travel to the other posts in the region on a regular basis.
You will develop a diverse range of stakeholders, both with officials in the region and in the NGO and expert communities, forging strong relationships which allow you and your network to influence and advise on policy development and negotiations. The policy context on climate and energy is constantly evolving, and your exact responsibilities may change over time depending on the wider context.

- Full professional fluency in English and Lithuanian (C1 level CEFR framework*)
- Knowledge of climate and energy policy issues
- Outstanding organisational skills
- Experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to draft policy and programme reports
- Programme management skills
- Awareness of political situation in the Baltic countries, especially concerning climate and energy policies
This is a full-time (35 net/per week), fixed-term position and until the end of 2024 fiscal year
