The British Embassy in Poland is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an energetic, enthusiastic, self starter and motivated Senior Investment Adviser to work in the Department for International Trade (DIT).

The DIT helps UK-based companies to succeed in Poland and other international markets and it works with companies overseas to bring high-quality investment to the UK. The team in Poland is part of DIT’s Central Europe Network (CEN), which comprises of 10 markets: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The main purpose of the job is:

  • Identification of potential investors into the UK from Poland. You will have a target for companies “landing” in the UK;
  • Encourage new high-value investment to the UK from Poland;
  • Work with existing Polish investors in the UK to increase the flow and stock;
  • Work with your colleagues in CEN to promote the UK as the #1 investment destination in Central Europe;
  • Generating new leads in Poland and managing these companies as part of CEN’s investment pipeline of prospects and active projects, in accordance with DIT “One Team” principles to ensure a constant flow of investment from priority sectors into the UK;
  • Seek out and develop meaningful and productive relationships with existing / potential Polish investors and multipliers;
  • Develop and maintain a relevant network of public and private sector contacts to promote the UK as the leading investment destination.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Delivering high value investment from Poland into UK. You will be expected to meet/exceed agreed annual targets;
  • Focus on investors in key strategic sectors, as defined by the CEN Business plan;
  • Grow existing Polish investments and flow in the UK and develop relations with key business and institutional stakeholders in the two countries;
  • Work closely with DIT, other British Government Departments, regional offices and other delivery partners to maximise landings, wins and operational effectiveness;
  • Contributing to the overall objectives of the Embassy.

Understanding UK Government aims in the wider UK and international context and developing productive relationships with those external contacts and partners to help deliver UK objectives.
  • Fluency in English and Polish (both oral and written);
  • A College / university level degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience;
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience;
  • Availability for travel domestically and internationally.
  • 1-2 years experience in a managerial position and/or managing staff;
  • Trade or economic policy background;
  • Experience of working in the IT/digital or Energy or Financial Services sectors. In our team of 6, we would like to have a blend of experience and competence to cover these sectors. The majority of the companies we work with are in these sectors.
  • Business development or previous inward investment experience;
  • Excellent team leadership skills and a record of delivering results;
  • Ability to bring diverse teams together to work toward common goals;
  • Strategic commercial and economic awareness;
  • An innovative attitude especially towards customer service and performance management;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and Internet. Experience with Oracle systems and databases preferred.

This is a full-time position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for a two year contract which may be extended by mutual agreement.

The monthly gross salary for this position is PLN 11,462.

Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law. Please be aware that the British Embassy in Warsaw will not be able to cover any costs connected with relocation.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.

Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.

Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
