The British Office Taipei promotes the UK’s interests and values in Taiwan and is looking to recruit a high motivated and pro-active Senior Prosperity Officer to work on a range of high priority economic policy issues. The successful applicant will work within the Economic and Prosperity Section to help advance the UK’s economic diplomacy interests in the world’s 22nd largest economy.

This is a challenging job at the heart of the British Office. The job-holder will lead on a range of economic diplomacy policy areas though the primary focus of the work will be around climate change and energy policy to promote emission reductions and sustainable development in Taiwan. The jobholder will also lead on wider economic diplomacy issues and work to improve the business environment in Taiwan in support of the UK’s trade and investment objectives.

The successful applicant will need to prove that they have good judgement, a solid track record in delivering results and can work independently to achieve well defined goals. The successful applicant will also need to possess strong interpersonal skills building on the office’s existing strong networks to create collaborative partnerships that advance UK objectives. The role requires flexibility, resilience and the ability to learn quickly to adapt to changing priorities and requirements. 

A solid understanding of economic, climate change and energy issues will be essential and previous policy experience would be an asset.

The jobholder will get a wide ranging insight into UK policy formulation and UK public diplomacy using media platforms including social media to engage with a wider Taiwanese audience to raise awareness about the impact of climate change and other areas.
