Main purpose of job:

We are seeking a skilled Communications professional to assist the British Diplomatic Mission in Brazil to help implement strategic communications initiatives to promote, protect and project the reputation of the UK in the country. Also, the successful candidate will help to continuously improve the internal communications flow, supporting the organisation to reach its objectives, based on the Brazil network’s core values of Excellence, Respect and Together.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assistance to Communication Manager overall, especially in PR work (e.g.: giving support on special projects, from the communications planning to the execution).
  • Assist in UK official events and campaigns: support on events, official visits and communications initiatives, including photo and digital coverage and the production of communications materials.
  • Assist in the engagement with the media by producing press releases and contacting journalists.
  • Management of library files and materials; purchase, distribution and storage of promotional items.
  • Assist in the implementation of a digital communication strategy, using social media and blogs.
  • Monitor the media and compile placements for Consulate/DIT activities; working on digital monitoring and feeding.
  • Management of print and online publications: purchase/distribution.
  • Management of communication budgets.
  • Administrative tasks, including contact with suppliers, documents management and data base update.
  • Managing and assisting in Internal Communications campaigns, including the internal Bulletin Board.
  • Managing and assisting in Communications campaigns: Science and Innovation, Trade and Investment ones.

Resources managed:

  • 1 intern
  • At least one year of experience in Communications, both Internal and External, including press and social media.
  • Excellent communication skills both in Portuguese (Native) and English (Fluent).
  • Familiarity with social media and knowledge of the Microsoft Office package are essential.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Languages or Marketing.
  • Committed, proactive, dynamic and a team player.
  • Have a good understanding of Brazilian media and/or experience working in a private sector marketing team or communications agency environment would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience in an international environment.
  • Video and photo editing skills.
